Toad Watch 2012

Here at the McLellan household we are gearing up for the Olympics by holding our very own “Toad Watch 2012.”  This may sound like an intriguing game but it is, in fact, a game of sheer survival.  Boomer has been flirting (barking up a storm) at a toad that has taken residence on our deck these past few nights.  Sean has had many conversations with him regarding the dangers toads possess.  Unfortunately, tonight, Boomer is learning this lesson the hard way.  After 4 phone calls to my father (Mitty also participates in the Toad Licking Olympic sport), 2 calls to the emergency vet, too much foam to bother estimating, 1 roll of paper towels later… we are still dealing with the ramifications of this friendly licking gesture. Hopefully Boomer will calm down as the night progresses…  I think that Boomer got his love of toads from Sean, who used to catch them in Taiwan when he was a boy.

Sean ended up putting his toad catching skills to work tonight and disposed of the Toad to prevent further altercations.    It looks like Boomer will take home the gold in this sport tonight.

Toad licking! That’s a new sport. Sounds like one of those extreme sports to us. Hope Boomer is feeling better.
